Hi Sephora, thanks for your message. Unfortunately, we don't need anyone at the moment but thanks anyway.

Good luck with finding some work experience.

Hi Olivia, we are a social media and public relations agency, so we probably aren't the right place for you to find what you are looking for although we have been involved in quite a bit of community relations.

I think you might want to check, www.csv.org.uk out as they aim to involve young people aged 16-35 in voluntary service - they should be able to give you a steer in the right direction.

I hope that helps.

Best wishes,
Chris

Hi Eileen,

Thanks for your interest but unfortunately we have filled our capacity for work experience at the moment. If we have any more space we will put a post up on our blog.

I hope it goes well at Frank PR.

Hi Mark, I am glad you managed to find a PR placement in Leeds and I hope you're enjoying your time at Ptarmigan. To be honest, work experience is the most important factor which separates one public relations graduate from another.

I have interviewed lots of students and graduates over the years and most of the time it comes down to one thing, and one thing only, experience.

In my opinion, the twelve months in work/agency that you do while studying can add as much value to your development as the other three years of theory you learn at university.

I remember when I went back for my fourth year (in the early stone age) there was a huge difference between the students in their third years and those in their fourth. So I now recommend every PR student I meet to make sure they do that important year out and afterwards they always seem to agree with me.

Good luck with the rest of your placement and your studies.

Chris,

I approched you guys at Wolfstar in the summer to organise work placement for this year, and i have to say i cannot remember the name of the lady i spoke to but she was very helful.

I am now doing my placement at Ptarmigan but definitely would have been tempted to work for Wolfstar LTD if it had been a bit nearer to my living location.

I know im not really helping you find workers Chris but i just wanted to mention that i agree with what you are saying about how important a placement is. Without a placement nowadays i do not feel you can enter a good job after university without a lot of luck with many places nowadays asking for a full years placement experience.

As well i would just like to use this as a chance to say thankyou to Richard Bailey, who little does he know got me this placement as he was the one who taught me how to write a press release last year which is what i had to do in my interview.

Thankyou Chris and Richard

Hope you find the troops you require

Chris

If you're an alumnus of our course, then can I point you towards our new Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=19659984736).

As we approach the 20th anniversary of the PR degree course, we're trying to build a network to invite to future events etc.

I hope you get a good response to the work placement ad. Let me know how I can help.

Thanks Richard - I am former alumni myself so I know how hard it is and what it's like getting started in the public relations industry.

As I did quite a few work placements myself, I know how to help ensure the student gets the best experience possible from their time at an agency.
