Introducing Samantha Shilton

Samantha Shilton

Hi, my name’s Sam and I’ve just started as an intern here at Wolfstar. I have literally just graduated from the University of Huddersfield after reading a BA (Hons) Media and Sports Journalism degree, and managed to get myself a 2:1 which I’m really chuffed with. The course dealt with all the different aspects of media, but in writing my dissertation I became increasingly interested in the new world of social media, and even managed to secure a work placement in the marketing department of Q Magazine.

Whilst working for Q, I was responsible for the upkeep of the brand’s digital platforms, i.e. MySpace, and further expanding their digital portfolio. Writing press releases and contacting artists’ pluggers were some of my responsibilities, giving me a taste for the public relations industry.

So far, Wolfstar has been great and I’m hoping to learn a lot more during my time here. I hate getting things wrong so am constantly asking questions and checking details, let’s hope they can put up with me for 4 weeks!

In my downtime, which is pretty sparse at the minute as I also have a part-time job working for the clothes company All Saints, I like to read, listen to music and have just started exercising again after a year in exile. Over the summer I’ve got a couple of things to look forward to, namely Leeds Festival and possibly a trip to Madrid as well, if the funds hold up. Hoping they will because I need some sun and I don’t trust the English weather!
