If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Our sister agency Raw Creative is looking for a fresh faced and talented designer to join their team and help their small agency grow even further.
They are looking for enthusiasm, so they want somebody who jumps out of bed on a morning and makes a good cup of tea - only kidding.
This person will work alongside the senior designer and on their own, so the ability to see a project through from concept to artwork would be ideal.
The candidate will need a degree or equivalent in graphic design, and experience using Quark Xpress, Illustrator and Photoshop is essential.
Raw has a broad range of clients and projects so no one day is the same.
If this opportunity sounds appealing just send an email with your CV to craig@rawcreativeleeds.com and he will be in touch shortly.

The ‘lovely’ Rosalind O’Rourke joins the Wolfstar Pack
December 11, 2007 by Rosalind O’Rourke · 1 Comment
Hi! My name is Rosalind O’Rourke and it’s my first day of work experience here at Wolfstar. I am currently a third year student at Leeds Metropolitan University studying public relations.
Originally, I come from a tiny little village in Ireland called Derryvale (the sort of place where everybody knows everybody and everybody’s business) and I was dying to escape to somewhere more interesting, so I decided to do my studies in England.
I’d heard about the city of Leeds from family and friends who had visited and loved it. So I thought it would be a good place for me to go and I have never looked back since. I love everything about it, the city lifestyle, the student life and the shopping of course!
Unlike most of my friends I am not doing a placement year. I chose not to do one because I had a lot going on during my second year at home and found myself spending most of my free time travelling back and forth. Because of this I didn’t think it would be fair on either party, as I wouldn’t have been able to put as much effort as I should into a full-time role. I don’t regret this decision at all - I chose to concentrate on my work instead and came through second year with marks that I was really pleased with. And I’m certainly not wasting my year out, I’m fitting in as much work experience as possible and building up my portfolio, so I can go my into my final year with one as good as my course mates.
I spend a lot of my spare time doing typical student stuff, drinking, shopping, and generally spending money that’s not mine! I also work in the Arc in Headingley to help fund this lifestyle. I have been there for over a year now and really enjoy it, everybody that works there is such good friends and most of us are students so the social side of it is great!
Before coming to university I didn’t know a lot about public relations, I originally wanted to be an actress but my careers advisor introduced me to it and told me I had the perfect personality for the job, and I have to say he was right.
I instantly loved the world of public relations and I knew I had a natural enthusiasm for it. Wolfstar is now introducing me to social media and WOM marketing, which I am already developing a massive interest in. I really like their attitudes and views on public relations and engaging with the consumer - so I am hoping I will learn a lot from the team during my time here.

Claire Thomas joins Wolfstar…..
December 5, 2007 by Claire Thomas · 1 Comment
Hey! I’m Claire Thomas and it’s my first day of work experience here at Wolfstar. I am currently in the third month of my first year as a Public Relations student at Leeds Metropolitan University and I have got to say it’s been the best three months of my life.
I originally come from a small town called Stockton-on-Tees near Middlesbrough so moving to a busy city like Leeds was scary at first but definitely the best decision of my life. Everything here is so different: shopping, traffic, cultures and of course the nightlife! Let’s just say, Middlesbrough’s nightlife leaves a lot to be desired!
I have known for a couple of years now that I wanted a career in PR when I left university, and I chose Leeds as my first choice because I knew there would be very few PR jobs available in Middlesbrough. I felt moving to a city would give me the best chance of gaining a job when I graduated and also giving me the exciting experiences that city life has to offer.
So how do I know at such a young age, that I want a career in PR? Well, I have always been a creative person and when I took up Media Studies in school, I knew straight away that I had a natural interest and enthusiasm in this subject. I loved analysing how companies appealed to their audiences using different techniques and mediums in order to sell their product. So, when I continued my Media Studies in college, I started to think about which course I wanted to do at uni; considering these aspects of the media which I found most interesting. I knew that I would definitely take up a subject connected to the media industry and after researching through pages and pages of prospectuses I chose Public Relations as my final choice.
So far the course has been great, although I have to admit: my heart and soul hasn’t completely gone into attending all my lectures. Fresher’s week seems to have gone on for a few more weeks that originally intended, or months…
However, with the prospect of me needing to open an overdraft looming, and exam dates set, I have decided to settle down (a bit) and start learning more about a subject I am greatly interested in.
So that’s where I am today, here at Wolfstar. I am really excited about completing work experience here because the company deals a lot with social media and like most other eighteen year olds, I have a lot of experience in these! Work experience is vital to my course and I know that I will gain knowledge and skills here which I will remember for the rest of my life.

Vacancies Full - No more room at the Inn
December 5, 2007 by Chris Norton · 3 Comments
Following a recent post by me on our blog asking students to apply for some work experience, I am happy to say we received several enquiries which were all very interesting and equally different.
A special thanks goes to Mr Richard Bailey for highlighting the vacancies in his class at Leeds Business School.
You will all be pleased to know, we treated each of them fairly, and they didn’t seem to find the assault course, aptitude tests and 10 mile run too difficult. After they finished their 1,000 press-ups, the truth serum was injected (joke) and then the polygraph test was given thoroughly. Surprisingly, after this, they did seem to relax a bit and settle into the six-hour interview procedure.
Unfortunately, after all of this we did only have two spaces available and they are now filled by the lovely Claire Thomas from Stockton and Rosalind O’Rourke.
As this is Wolfstar, we will be making sure they introduce themselves properly to the world on the blog on their first day - so make sure you look out for that. We will also be asking them to provide us - and you courtesy of the blog - with some interesting insight into the world of being a PR student in Leeds.
If you are still wondering how did anyone get past our legendary lie detector test - here are some quick tips how to cheat one.
Thanks to everyone who contacted us….

And now for a clichéd public services announcement from the team here at Wolfstar.
Calling all PR students? Switch off your favourite breakfast television of Richard and Judy, put down that pot noodle, throw away that copy of glamour magazine and your fancy Starbucks coffee and listen. Social media specialist Wolfstar is looking for some new enthusiastic recruits to join its team on a part-time work experience basis. Are you interested in a career in public relations? Do you have an interest in social media and word of mouth marketing? Do you want to find out how this all fits within the marketing mix? Well, if the answer to all of these questions is yes, we have a great opportunity for you here with us.

UPDATE - I should have also asked people to send their CVs to me too.
Seven top tips for students starting work
August 3, 2007 by Beth Kay · 5 Comments
I have now been working full-time for three weeks now. OK, so I’ve done full-time work before. Every summer holiday I would work at the local health centre to earn some much needed cash, but STUDENTS BEWARE, the thought that you will be working for the rest of your life after three years of student-dom can come as a shock! So, I thought I would put together a little list of tips to help you students out there who are soon to be facing the wonderful world of working.
- Go to bed – EARLY. The days of partying till 3am on a student night with all your student friends are long gone I am afraid. OK, so the occasional banging head at 9am mid-week is allowed, but forget going out every day except Tuesdays like you used to! Trust me, feeling like you want to die does not a good employee make!
- Disown all your student friends! Delete the numbers of and cut off all friends who are a) still allowed to be in bed at 11am, b) free to sunbathe in the middle of Hyde Park all day because they “don’t ‘have any lectures. Ever!” c) likely to ring you up to ask you to that fabulous party that without you, just wouldn’t be the same, d) will complain how ‘hard’ student life is.
- Make your lunch, don’t buy it. A key money saving tip! Just because you are earning now, doesn’t mean that overdraft isn’t still there (like I try to pretend it isn’t ALL THE TIME).
- Live for the weekends. You may not be able to be that same old party animal during the week, but boy can we still big it up at the weekend (helped by the little bit of extra cash).
- Positive Thinking. A common thought that may pass your mind. ‘Oh my god! I have to get up at 7am for every day for the rest of my life. Noooooooooooo. Trust me, block this thought out. It can only do you harm!
- Practice makes perfect. For the month before you work you may be tempted to sleep till 2pm to make up for all the sleep you will miss over the next 45 years. DON’T. Gradually getting up earlier during this period will make getting up at 7am a doddle.
- Look forward to work! Go in with a positive attitude and be ready and willing to help with whatever you can.
I hope this helps any unsuspecting students out there that are soon to be starting their first jobs. Happy working!
Indigo Red launches vlogyourjob.com
July 26, 2007 by Stuart Bruce · Leave a Comment
My favourite PR headhunters Indigo Red are continuing to show why they are the best in the business by launching www.vlogyourjob.com. I’ll let MD Steve Mallison-Jones explain:
“This is a new site that does something different for the job seeker and the employer. Much more than a job spec this site lets you talk to your potential employees before they come for an interview. Finding great talent is really tough and we believe employers need innovative ways to reach talent!! Check it out.”
I like it, although I’d probably have advised Steve to have a little bit more content on it before announcing it.
