Born in York, I came to Uni in Leeds and have been here ever since! I live with my husband, two young kids, and our dog. I love a good Netflix series or ITV drama and testing the latest new restaurants in Leeds. As a family, we love trying out all the fantastic places in Yorkshire that are great for kids. Roundhay Park, Harlow Carr gardens and Harewood House are all favourites.
I’m a director here at Wolfstar, responsible for business development. I start work early, whilst my husband wrestles the kids out the door to school and nursery. I focus on finding brands who our team would love to work with, and building relationships with them in a meaningful and personal way. We don’t send the same proposals or credentials out each time, so I spend time tailoring these to each company. I like to get out and meet people, so attend various networking events in Yorkshire to hear about other local businesses and how I can help pass referrals on to them too. I write regular articles in trade magazine Pet Gazette, help build our profile on LinkedIn, produce blog posts for our website and write any press releases for Wolfstar.
It has to be our campaign for Monster Pet Supplies. Last Christmas we sourced and branded the UK’s first dog-friendly wrapping paper. Made from soy-based ink and self-sealing, it enabled dog owners to safely give their pet a present to open at Christmas, without exposing them to the chemicals found on traditional paper, and choking hazards such as tape and ribbon. It became the top selling Christmas product for Monster that year, and drove a significant increase in organic traffic to their website through our media and influencer outreach. The team secured links on Country Living, The Times, Yahoo, Evening Standard and the Daily Mail to name a few, as well as a host of positive reviews from bloggers on Instagram. Filming with Made in Leeds was the icing on the cake too. A successful campaign and really good fun to work on. It ticked all the boxes and is exactly why I love my job!
We’ve got a great mix of clients at Wolfstar, but one brand I’d love to work with is Gousto. We’ve been using their food subscription boxes for over a year now and it’s honestly the best idea ever. Even more surprising as I don’t do the cooking! It saves us time traipsing around supermarkets, or deciding what to eat by delivering all the ingredients needed for tasty meals. Our kids have tried things they never would have without the boxes, and we use leftovers for lunches. I’d shout from the rooftops about the benefits of their service especially for busy parents. I’d love to get my teeth into a campaign for those guys.
For the past five years I have written a blog about owning my dog, Lupo: www.velcrodog.co.uk I have worked with brands including the RSPCA, Purina and Sainsbury’s Bank, and it’s enabled me to see the other side of influencer marketing from a bloggers perspective. I’ve reviewed pet friendly holidays, treats and toys, as well as the latest gadgets and apps designed to help dog owners. Lupo now expects any parcels in the post to be for him!
Something with animals. I always wanted to be a Vet or look after and train puppies for amazing charities such as Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Working with clients in the pet industry is a good substitute!
